scaffolding

Scaffolding is a method of supporting students to learn new concepts or deepen their understanding, helping them to the next level.

Scaffolding students may involve modeling, provision of support resources, and utilising previous knowledge to help students link concepts.

To learn more about scaffolding learning you could read works from Jerome Bruner, or Jesper Hoffmeyer. Reading up on Lev Vygotsky is also useful in understanding how scaffolding might be useful in education.
